I re-contacted the manufacturer to print a version of the pattern. This version uses a magenta kit that will show up better on pinks and purples. The recommended temperature for the magenta set is 40 degrees higher than the red set, so I will need to experiment more to determine the most appropriate temperature. Since the 650 degrees, 250 degrees rise per hour, 25 minutes soaking parameter for the red set is a bit on the light side, which means that this temperature is a bit too high for the red set, I'll try firing the magenta set according to this parameter this time, and with any luck it might be just right.
The firing was a success and the pattern was just the right colour. So I continued with this parameter and fired the finished product.
The finished firing came out very successful as well. And since I was also practicing decal over and over again while trying out the colours, my technique matured to the point where no air bubbles appeared at all in the final product.
Finally I glued the metal parts to the back of the ceramic brooch with epoxy and the brooch and plate parts were done.
