Wood base making 2

In order to give the surface of the board a greater undulation, I tried to cut and overlap an existing board with a thickness of 2cm and paste it.

I used woodworker's glue for the adhesive and secured it overnight with lots of clips.

But after fixing it I noticed that there was a gap between the two boards, no way to use it for CNC.

The Wood workshop technician said that the reason for the gap between the two boards was that I hadn't glued the two pieces together in the correct direction, which would have been to make the wood grain in the cross section appear joined. This failure has given me experience. To save time and minimise risk, I decided to buy a new piece of timber of sufficient thickness to make the base.
