Mimicking Memphis

In this workshop, we need to create a Memphis style living room out of cardboard and coloured paper in 4 hours time. Our group was assigned the task of designing and making a sofa.

We first met to discuss the proposal, everyone made some sketches, and focused on taking and summarising everyone's ideas to come up with a detailed sketch.

To increase efficiency, we split the parts of the sofa and assigned tasks to each person. In the process of making the sofa, we also encountered some problems, for example, the support of the cardboard was not enough to achieve the structure of the back of the sofa we designed, so we adjusted the plan after timely communication and quickly continued to put into production.

In the end our sofa was completed in the time allotted and basically achieved what we wanted to achieve and everyone was happy with the result.

In the end, we laid out everyone's furniture design pieces to form a living room. It turned out very well, with great ideas and crafting skills from each group.

It was a fun and rewarding workshop, everyone designed and made a classroom full of colourful furniture in a short period of time, it was a lot of mental and physical work but the finished product was very rewarding to look at.
