Plaster mould making
I used a glass candlestick to try to guide the plaster mould. The mould comes in three parts, two pieces separated along the centre axis of the candlestick, and the base of the candlestick.
Secure the container with clay so that its base is perpendicular to the tabletop and against the board, taking care to keep the side seams of the container parallel to the tabletop.
Plug the mouth of the bottle with a piece of clay that is the same shape and size as the mouth of the bottle to prevent the plaster from filling in.
For every 1kg of gypsum powder mixed with 700ml of water for mixing, 0.5kg of gypsum powder is to be added as a margin. Add small amounts in several times until the surface appears to be shaped like an island.
Stir and strain out the foam, stirring for about 5 minutes, until your fingers leave marks when you run them across the surface.
Gently vibrate the plaster-filled mould on the table for about 2 minutes to allow the bubbles to come up.Remove the mould after about 20 minutes when the surface of the plaster is slightly hot.
Apply SOFT SOAP to the surface of the plaster with a brush until it blisters and wipe off. Repeat at least three times until the surface of the plaster feels similar to the texture of wax.
Repeat the previous steps for pouring the plaster.
