Texture test

My initial idea for Object 1 was to give the viewer a sense of being underwater by creating lenses that simulate water ripples.

For the FAST MAKING FESTIVAL, I made a bracelet that simulated an underwater landscape using heated up discarded plastic bottles. This was environmentally friendly and visually pleasing, so I wanted to continue experimenting with plastic to create moulds for water ripple lenses.

I tried heating three types of plastic, including pvc sheets, plastic mineral water bottles, and harder detergent bottles. the pvc sheets heated up with a more subtle undulation, whereas the detergent bottles had thick walls and undulated excessively when heated up, and the mineral water bottles heated up a little closer to a water wave.

Also, I considered using water itself for the lens, but with water it would be a more rounded shape, making it more difficult to achieve the water ripple pattern I want.

I also thought about using modelling and 3D printing to make a mould or to form the water ripple lens directly. In fact, this is a more direct method, but I didn't use it because of the environmental and time costs, maybe I can use this method in other practices later on.
