Ceramic pieces making
Having established that the images to be printed on the ceramics would be of a floral series, I was also able to further define the form of the ceramic piece - rounded with a slightly curled form to simulate the morphological characteristics of the flowers.
I then made a large number of these ceramic pieces, including different sizes, and polished them.
I gave these ceramic pieces a clear glaze. In order to glaze one side, I also tried coating one side of the ceramic piece with wax, thus keeping it from getting glazed. But then I realised that after glazing the ceramic pieces as a whole, it was also quite quick to scrape the glaze off one of the sides of the ceramic pieces directly when the glaze was half dry, so I took that approach.
Glazed and fired at 1260 degrees Celsius, the ceramic pieces look great, with no blistering or breakage occurring.
