Ceramic Creation Process 2
For the fabrication part of the display case, I first made a small sketch mould based on the sketch to confirm the structural soundness.
Then to compare the trade-offs, I made two shapes of display cabinets with clay.
I wanted the glaze of the showcase to have a black rough texture, so I made a test piece from a small piece of ceramic. However, the first firing of the test piece was not satisfactory, the colour was light and lacked graininess. I thought the kiln temperature was too low, so I remade the test piece and fired it at a higher temperature.
After switching to high temperature firing, the glaze achieved the effect I wanted.
After the ceramic prime firing, two of the legs of my shelf dragged off, so it was good that the breaks didn't need to be stressed. I decided to glaze them until the final step and then glue them.
I was going to put the two legs of the shelf on and have it fired standing up, but the technician told me that firing at high temperatures may cause the ceramic to warp slightly, which could lead to slumping. With his help, I secured it with three marks so that it could be fired lying sideways.
