Casa Batllo

The Casa Batlló (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈkazə βəˈʎːo]) is a building in the centre of Barcelona, Spain. It was built by Antoni Gaudí and is considered one of his masterpieces. The local name of the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), because of its organic qualities of viscera, bones...

Like all buildings designed by Gaudi, the Bartolo flat can only be recognised as a modernist building in the broadest sense. The ground floor, in particular, has unusual window treatments, irregular oval windows and fluidly carved stonework. Straight lines are rare, and most of the façade is decorated with colourful mosaics made from broken tiles ( trencadís). The gabled roofs have been compared to the backs of dragons or dinosaurs.

I love the twisted lines like the underwater world, and the staircase glass of the House of Bartolo inspired my project. The glass has uneven and twisted lines, and when you look through the glass, the view behind you is distorted, as if you were underwater.
